Master of Education in Leadership and AdministrationDegree Description The Benedictine University Leadership and Administration (Type 75) degree was carefully designed to provide future administrators a unique program through which each student can examine and develop their knowledge, values and skills regarding effective school administration. Students are able to network with some of Chicago's most experienced and knowledgeable administrators. The emphasis on technology in this program provides a powerful tool for future administrators. Sixty percent of the 100-hour internship requirement is integrated into content specific courses with the remaining 40 percent generated by an internship project. Activities are closely monitored to ensure applicability. Many courses are taught by practicing administrators who share common philosophies and commitments to the development of future educational leaders. Degree completion is approximately 15 months. Master of Education in Reading and LiteracyDegree Description Literacy expectations will accelerate dramatically in the coming decades. To participate fully in society, citizens will need powerful literacy abilities that include a wide range of technological competencies. Schools must assume an expanded definition of literacy that includes not only the traditional creation and comprehension of printed texts but technological representations as well.
